About the Role
As a Field Application Engineer, you are the link between product development, customer and sales. Your primary goal is to support our customers in pre-sales technical activities. These include, but not limited to, supporting our customers in selecting the right product from our product portfolio, assisting our customers in solving any technical issues related to our products during the design cycle, to finally mass production and the launch of their end products. You are also expected to provide post-sales technical support when our customers face technical issues with our products after they have launch their end products into the market.
To be effective in fulfilling your role requires in-depth knowledge of our products. You will also need to be familiar with the product development process from R&D, testing through to production. As you will have direct contact with customers, you must have excellent communication skills, able to take rejections well, as well as a positive “can-do” and “never give-up” attitude.
You’re expected to be a strong team player, able to collaborate and work closely with our channel partners, our internal sales, product and development teams to achieve company goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Securing design-wins will be your key objective
Responsible for pre-sales as well as post-sales technical support of our products for applications into all relevant wireless communications markets which includes, but not limited to, all forms of wireless communication systems, such as, cellular, aerospace, defence, satellite, 2-way radios, test/measurement equipment
Provide application/product training to customers, channel partners and our sales team
Work with our product team to develop reference designs, demo boards, evaluations kits, application notes and technical white papers
Characterisation of our products based on customers’ requirements
Support customers in evaluation and debugging of our products
In post-sales application support, conduct failure analysis to determine root cause of failure
Requirements
Engineering or Science Degree in Electrical, Electronic or equivalent; specialisation in RF and/or Microwave is preferred
Experience in RF and/or Microwave in R&D or Application Engineering
Expertise in the area of both RF Large Signal and Small Signal
Working experience with GaN, GaAs, LDMOS and/or SOI RF products highly preferred
Experience in RF design or applications, high efficiency Doherty power amplifiers, broadband/multi-band amplifier, and digital pre-distortion (DPD).
Competent in RF laboratory equipment and measurement techniques including power amplifier circuit assembly and tuning.
Competent with simulation tools such as Keysight ADS suite, IQSTAR Circuit Measurement and Analysis Software, 3D EM Simulation HFSS, AutoCAD (or equivalent)
RF board level design and experience highly preferred
Have a thorough understanding of a radio signal chain (Tx and Rx) and exposure to different radio architectures
Understanding of mobile communication standards (LTE, NR etc), global spectrum regulations (3GPP, FCC etc) and their specifications for radio performance
Skills and Abilities:
Good understanding and insight into customers’ target application for our type of products
Ability to present and explain complex technical ideas to a variety of audiences
Basic sales or commercial acumen will be an added advantage
Demonstrated expertise in setting up and using RF/Microwave test equipment
RF/Microwave circuits design, PCB layout/fabrication, testing and verification
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong RF technical background
RF/Microwave system knowledge and design experience will be an added advantage
Keen problem solving skillset
Ability to work as part of a team to solve problems
Ability to communicate product and application suggestions to sales and marketing team
Good verbal and written communication skills
Candidate with more experience will be considered for senior position
